When your child is struggling academically despite your efforts and the schools attempts for remediation, a psychoeducational assessment will help to find out the underneath causes for such difficulties.
The psychoeducational assessment consists of standardized psychological measure that will look into your child’s cognitive abilities (some examples: intelligence, memory, processing speed, visuo-motor skills, planning and organization) and academic skills( some examples: reading, spelling, writing, oral language, expressive-receptive language, mathematical skills).
After completion of the test the psychologist will meet with you and your child for a feedback session and provide you with a copy of the report. Recommendations will be made for school programming and placements if necessary.
